Departure restaurant and lounge is set to open on the top of the Nines Hotel in Spring 2009. This modern Asian restaurant in downtown Portland boasts the creative interior design skills of Jeff Kovel of Skylab Architecture, one of Portland’s leading architectural firms. The design concept will resemble a cruise ship motif using the original port holes reclaimed from the 1908 Meier and Frank building. The Portland restaurant and lounge adds a 15th floor to the building and offers diners two rooftop patios with views overlooking downtown Portland, the Willamette River, and Mt .Hood and Mount St. Helens. Departure restaurant and lounge will be a culinary and cocktail destination for both local Portland residents, as well as business and leisure travelers. After being greeted by a host at the street entrance to the Nines Hotel, guests will be sent up to the 15th floor to begin their evening’s culinary journey of Modern Asian food in Portland.
